Police Call leads to Animal Science Students Rescuing an American Alligator! 9/13/10

Senior Students: Ashlyn Valdes and Maegan Melody were sent to the BSO Police Station to assist them in a call they received regarding an Alligator. The girls helped the officers grab the gator, taped his jaws, and brought him back to our program here at South. With minor injuries to the Gator's eyes... the girls were able to clean him up and get him settled in at our Animal Science Program. He's doing great in a tank the girls set up next to our two other baby Alligators. We now have four American Alligators, and we are currently in the process of redoing an Alligator Environment to make it a realistic Everglades-like presentable habitat. Him and the other Alligators are worked with daily by students like Ashlyn and Maegan, and it's all apart of our hands-on educational learning program.

Our Blue & Gold Macaws!

Recently, we have had 3 new Blue & Gold Macaws join us! We are "fostering" them for now, until they are able to receive a better home. There's Noah, Buba, and Clara. The students are working with them to gain their trust with humans, and teach them more tricks. They are beautiful, and are receiving tons of attention!
